If you’re about to repair a tooth with a dental filling, then you’re on your way toward a repaired oral health. After treatment, you will have the strong and healthy tooth you deserve. Along with that, you will also experience a few side effects. To help you know what to expect, our dentist, Dr. John Ifantis, has some details for you.
After your treatment, you will have a numb mouth because of the anesthetic. This shouldn’t last very long, and it’s important to avoid eating or drinking hot foods and beverages. After the anesthetic wears off, you will most likely feel some numbness, tingling, and minor pain in the injection site. This is normal and it should subside within a few hours of your treatment.
You will also most likely have a sensitive tooth after treatment. It will be sensitive to pressure, cold air, liquids, or sweet foods. This sensitivity should disappear within one to two weeks. It’s best to avoid anything that causes the sensitivity so you can have the comfort you deserve. If the sensitivity does not go away after two weeks, please contact our office and schedule an appointment.
