You likely know how important it is to brush your teeth twice daily. However, do you know how to properly care for your toothbrush? Caring for your toothbrush properly allows it to properly clean your smile. Read on for some toothbrush care advice from the practice of Ifantis Dental Care.

Replace
A toothbrush should be replaced at least every three to four months. This is because a worn-out toothbrush will not be able to clean your teeth sufficiently. If your toothbrush bristles become frayed before you have had it for three months, replace your toothbrush sooner.

Cleaning & Storage
After you brush your teeth, thoroughly rinse your toothbrush with tap water to remove toothpaste and debris. Then, store your toothbrush upright out in the open so that it can air out. Avoid storing your toothbrush in a closed container as much as you can, as bacteria loves moist, dark areas.

Don’t Contaminate
If you store multiple toothbrushes in one area, make sure that they don’t touch each other. This helps prevent cross contamination.
